Monday features the last matches of the summer promotion series, as Against All Authority, Dragonborns and Copenhagen Wolves each defend their LCS spots in best of five matches. With one LCS team already knocked out, the rest must leverage everything they've learned over the spring season to keep their careers alive!

With the Spring Playoffs completed and All-Star week still to come, there’s one major event that’s on everyone’s minds: Summer Promotion. Four LCS teams from each region will be putting their LCS spot on the line against eight hungry Challenger Division teams – after the Challengers whittle their numbers to four through a best of three match, the winners will go on to compete for the chance to take place in the Summer Split.
The first day of the EU tournament is taking place on Friday, May 3, and continues to Saturday and Sunday. The games are scheduled as follows:
MeetYourMakers vs Dexter is Actually Evil at 11:00AM CEST (2:00AM PDT)
Team ALTERNATE vs. Wizards e-Sports Club at 2:00PM CEST (5:00AM PDT)
Sinners Never Sleep vs. TCM-Gaming at 5:00PM CEST (8:00AM PDT)
Samurai in Jeans vs. Anexis eSports at 8:00 PM CEST (11AM PDT)
The winner from each of these matches will go on to face LCS teams in best of five matches on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 for the chance to play in the Summer Split.
Winner of MYM/Dexter vs. Dragonborns at 11:00AM CEST (2:00AM PDT) on Saturday
Winner of ALTERNATE/Wizards vs. Ozone GIANTS! at 4:00PM (7:00AM PDT) on Saturday
Winner of SNS/TCM vs. against All authority at 11:00AM CEST (2:00AM PDT) on Sunday
Winner of Samurai in Jeans/Anexis vs. Copenhagen Wolves at 4:00PM (7:00AM PDT) on Sunday
The extended series will hopefully give teams the chance to make some dramatic comebacks, especially with LCS spots on the line; if we learned anything from the GGU vs. TSM North American final, teams are prepared to use all five of those games if need be.
The promotion tournament for North America follows the next week, starting on Friday, May 10. The format is identical: eight Challenger teams will face each other in an initial best of three match, with the winners taking on LCS teams in a best of five on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12 for the four LCS spots up for grabs. Friday’s matchups include:
Quantic Gaming vs. Team Astral Poke at 11:00AM PDT (8:00PM CEST)
Velocity eSports vs. The Salad Bar at 2:00PM PDT (11:00PM CEST)
Team Summon vs. Fidelis at 5:00PM PDT (2:00AM CEST)
Azure vs. DoubleBuff at 8:00PM PDT (5:00AM CEST)
After the four teams moving on have been decided, the next two day’s matches are as follows:
Winner of Quantic/Astral Poke vs. compLexity at 11:00AM PDT on Saturday
Winner of Velocity/Salad Bar vs. Team MRN at 4:00PM PDT on Saturday
Winner of Summon/Fidelis vs. Dignitas at 11:00AM PDT on Sunday
Winner of Azure/DoubleBuff vs. Counter Logic Gaming at Sunday
Each winner from the Saturday and Sunday matches will claim a spot in the Summer Split, while the losers drop down to the Challenger Division. The stakes are huge. Some teams facing relegation have hinted they may break up if they leave the LCS. A few Challenger teams missed their shot for the Spring Split and will be hungry to make the most of this second chance. For others, this will be the most pressure they’ve faced in competitive play before and the final barrier to going full-time pro.
Don’t miss any of the action, starting Fri, May 3 11AM CEST (2AM PDT).
